Dove is one of the world’s leading beauty brands under the Unilever Company. Dove initially sold female-oriented products before eventually branching out to the male market with their own line of products in later years.

In 2004, Dove created the Self-Esteem Project which was done to “help the next generation of women grow up feeling happy and confident about the way they look”. Kudos to the advertising and marketing teams of Dove because they have delivered streamlined and on-point commercials and continue to do so today. Friends was an American situational comedy created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman. Its 10 seasons were aired on NBC from September 22, 1994 to May 6, 2004 and has garnered multiple Primetime Emmy Award nominations and wins. 24 Oras, read as Bente-Quatro Oras, is the primetime news programs aired daily on the GMA network. Their weekday programming runs from 6:30 pm to 8 pm and is hosted by Mel Tiangco and Mike Enriquez, while their weekend programming runs from 5:30 pm to 6 pm and is hosted by Pia Arcangel and Jiggy Manicad. Skins

Skins was a British program created by Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain, and aired from 2007 to 2013 on the E4 channel. It’s a story about the lives of teenagers from Bristol, England and discusses controversial issues such as eating disorders and substance abuse, among others. It has 4 series but that constitutes for 7 seasons. The first series is comprised of the first two seasons, followed by a second and third series, with a new cast for each. The last season consisted of only three episodes that ran an hour long, highlighting the lives of three chosen characters from the previous seasons. Continue reading Skins

High School Musical is part of the Disney Channel Original Movies or DCOMs. These DCOMs are made-for-television movies produced by, released exclusively for, and showed only on the Disney Channel. The movie, High School Musical, is directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega and stars actors Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens.

Paperman

Paperman is a Walt Disney animated short film by John Kahrs released in 2012. It’s creativity in combining both traditional and computer animation has garnered itself an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 85 th Academy Awards in 2013.

I’m choosing to view this text through Narrative Analysis because it’s an animated film. Over the years, animation, especially those made by Disney, used to be just for children. So what happens when the adult social world becomes “storied” and comes to life in a black and white, 2D film?
